Driver dies in two-car collission involving car, SUV

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred this afternoon. At about 12:45 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 25, 2012), Arlington police officers were dispatched to a two-car collision in the South District. Early into the investigation, it appears that the driver of a car was heading north on Wellstone Drive. As she drove across the eastbound lanes of SE Green Oaks Boulevard, the driver of the car collided with an SUV that was traveling east on SE Green Oaks. The woman driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV and her child were driven by ambulance to the Medical Center of Arlington for treatment for what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased driver will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner once next of kin have been notified and official identification has been made.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. However, at this point there is no indication that alcohol was a factor in the crash. This is the 10th traffic fatality in Arlington this year.
