Traffic Fatality Involves Motorcycle, Car at Intersection

Arlington police officers responded to a motorcycle and car crash, which led to the death of a 25-year-old Arlington man.

Early this morning, June 15, 2012, at 2:40 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash in the intersection of 5900 New York Avenue and 1800 Sublett Road. The driver of a Kawasaki Motorcycle was heading eastbound on Sublett Road and appeared to have driven through a red signal light before colliding with a car traveling southbound on New York.  The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries. It appears neither the driver nor passenger of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the car was not injured.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will release the name of the victim once the identity of the crash victim has been established and next of kin notifications have been made.

This is the 9th traffic fatality in Arlington this year.
