Shooting after argument at party leads to death of one man, injury of second

The Arlington Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of one man and the critical injury of another man outside a party early Sunday morning. Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 1600 block of Geraldine Court at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012. They arrived to discover that two men had been injured during a shooting outside the house party. The victims are believed to be 18 and 21 years old. Both were driven by ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where the younger victim later died from his injuries.

The name of the deceased victim will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, once next of kin has been notified and he has been officially identified.  At this point in the initial stages of the investigation, officers continue to canvass the area, talk to witnesses, and process the scene.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Arlington Police Detective Caleb Blank at 817 459-5735, or Crime Stoppers at (817) 469-TIPS (8477) to submit an anonymous tip. Through Crime Stoppers, tipsters could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.

This is the 10th homicide in Arlington this year.

6/22/2012 Suspect arrested in connection fatal shooting
A suspect was arrested today in connection with the recent fatal shooting of Obeth Hernandez. Dreonte Baron Dillard, 19 of Euless, is in the Arlington City Jail and facing a charge of murder. Bail is set at $250,000. Based on witness accounts, Dillard and a group of friends became involved in an argument with another group of men while at a house party in the 1600 block of Geraldine Court last weekend, and were told to leave the party. The shooting occurred outside the house. Arlington police continue to investigate this case and are looking at other suspects, who could have been involved in this shooting.
