Residential Notification Of High Risk Offenders
Not all offenders will have a risk level. Only offenders who are coming out of a penal institution or have been adjudicated as of January
1, 2000 and whom registration is required must be assigned one of the following risk
levels:
Low: a designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a low danger to the community and will not likely engage in criminal sexual conduct.
Moderate: a designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a moderate danger to the community and may continue to engage in criminal sexual conduct.
High: a designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a serious danger to the community and will continue to engage in criminal sexual conduct.
Level C: Civil commitment to registration requirements. Poses a serious danger to the community or will continue to engage in criminal sexual conduct.
High Risk Public Notice:
The Department of Public Safety is required to send a High Risk Notice to every residence within a 3 block radius of the address of any Level C Offender and Level 3 Offender who was adjudicated as of January 1, 2000. A Level 3
Offender who was adjudicated before January 1, 2000 will not have a notice mailed out.
