Arlington Police Processing System

Applicants meeting the basic requirements will download, complete, and submit the Personal History Statement (Application) by email, mail or in person. Submission of the Application serves to register the applicant in our process. Once received, the Application will be screened and the applicant will be contacted by email and/or phone in order to schedule them for testing. This testing occurs on selected dates, typically once or twice a month.

Processing on these dates will begin at 7:45 a.m. at:

West Arlington Police Sub Station
2060 W. Green Oaks Boulevard

The process will conclude at:

Arlington Police Academy
6000 W. Pioneer Parkway (Spur 303)

Testing consists of a Preliminary Interview and a Physical Agility Test

Additionally, once registered and selected for testing, applicants will receive a Preliminary Interview Booklet (Questionnaire) by email along with further instructions. The completed Questionnaire will be submitted on the applicant's scheduled test date along with a photocopy of the applicant's driver's license and birth certificate. The originals must also be produced for verification purposes.

During the entire application process, applicants will be evaluated on the appearance and completeness of all paperwork/documents submitted to this department as well as the applicant's ability to follow instructions. All documents submitted become the property of the Arlington Police Department and will be maintained as a permanent record.

Applicants need to be aware that successful completion of each phase (described below) is required in order to advance to the next phase in the hiring process. However, successful completion of a phase does not automatically guarantee advancement the next phase in the process. Applicants who fail the Preliminary Interview will not be allowed to participate in the Physical Agility Test. Applicant's successfully completing Phases I through IV will be eligible for (but not guaranteed) a position as an Arlington Police Recruit.

Testing and assessments will include:

Phase I - Personal History Statement (Application) / Preliminary Interview / Physical Agility Test / Conditional Job Offer

Phase II - Polygraph Examination / Medical Examination / Psychological Examination

Phase III - Background Investigation

Phase IV - Oral Interview Board
