Arlington police seek help in locating shooting suspect
The Arlington police department has obtained an attempted murder warrant for 26-year-old Jorge Castillo in connection with the April 28 shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of east Interstate 30.
Officers were initially dispatched to a major accident at the Kwik Car Lube located at 1804 N. Cooper St. It was determined that one driver involved in the accident, Brandon Lee Fortich, a 31-year-old man from Springtown, had been shot. Fortich was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening gun shot wound.
Investigators learned that Fortich was approached by Jorge Castillo in the parking lot of La Quinta at 1410 Northwest 19th Street in Grand Prairie. Castillo asked for a light and for some money. Fortich refused Castillo's request and left the location.
Castillo chased Fortich in a 2000 White Volkswagen Beetle, Texas license plate G39-MMH into Arlington as both vehicles drove westbound on Interstate 30. This car was being driven by 24-year-old Jose Sanchez of Dallas. Castillo reportedly leaned out the window of the car and shot once at Fortich while both cars were driving on Interstate 30. Fortich was struck once in the abdomen.
On May 5, officers arrested Jose Sanchez for his involvement in the shooting. Sanchez is being held in the Arlington City Jail facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond has been set at $50,000.
Investigators are actively looking for Jorge Castillo and urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS or Detective Sebastian Peron at 817-459-6486.
