From the Chief

Message from the Chief

On behalf of our community, welcome to our website. The men and women of the department are the people who make this organization one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in the world and are here to serve you. We strive to provide excellent police service every day. Whether you are raising a family here or simply visiting one of our entertainment venues, we want your experience to be safe, fun and memorable.

Building upon our past successes with community policing, the Arlington Police Department is committed to a geographic-policing philosophy that proactively addresses crime and the fear of crime through a shared relationship with citizens and beat officers in their specific neighborhoods.

This is achieved using proven problem-solving methods and partnerships to elevate the quality of life in our neighborhoods. Officers and staff focus on five key areas which provide the foundation to making Arlington a safer community: Community Engagement, Refocus on Geographic Policing, Intelligence, Multi-Year Planning, and Effective Enforcement. These five principles are the foundation of our "Focus on the Five" C.R.I.M.E reduction strategy.

We invite you to become involved with your department in order to forge a strong cooperative partnership that is built upon mutual trust and respect. No police department can solve crime or quality of life issues alone. Effective police community relationships, communication, and engagement are critical components to our success.

Please take the time to learn more about the APD's units and services. Take advantage of the many opportunities to communicate with us and learn how we can work together. We look forward to serving with you. There are many opportunities for you to partner alongside with us to make Arlington better! So roll up your sleeves and join our efforts.

Will Johnson
Police Chief
