ARLINGTON CITIZENS ON PATROL

|
|
* Take pride and ownership in your community *
Criminals want you to go inside of your house and “mind your own business”
while they conduct illegal activity in your neighborhood. Remember, any
illegal activity taking place in your community is your business.
C.O.P. members are trained to work with the police department to act as
additional “eyes and ears” to help pinpoint suspicious and criminal
activity, thus allowing the department to serve the community more
effectively. |

* C.O.P. Online Patrol Reporting *
Online
C.O.P. patrol reports provide a fantastic tool for communicating directly
with the police department to report non-emergency suspicious activity, code
enforcement violations and issues requiring the attention of city
resources. As a C.O.P. member, you will be able to submit reports that will
increase the safety and improve the overall quality-of-life of your
neighborhood. These reports are designed to provide a quick, direct link to
city resources. Once submitted, your report is forwarded to the proper city
department and tracked for quality assurance. |

|
TRAINING:
Before becoming an active member of the C.O.P. program, all eligible
volunteers are required to attend a six-hour orientation that is split into
two three-hour sessions. During the course, members are trained on topics
including legal issues, standard operating procedures, patrol procedures,
9-1-1 interaction, identifying suspicious activity and recognizing Code
Enforcement complaints.
FUTURE
TRAINING
Once
you complete your orientation training, members must attend one four-hour
in-service training to maintain active status. In these trainings, we will
teach you crime prevention techniques and plug you into various community
resources and city departments. We encourage you to attend each of these
trainings so that you can bring a wealth of knowledge back to your
community. |
