Man called 911, admitted to fatally shooting wife

 
The Arlington Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at a motel overnight. At about 7:40 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013, Arlington police officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a motel in the 1900 block of W. Pleasant Ridge Road. A man at the location admitted to first responders that he had shot the woman, who officers learned was the man’s wife. Officers entered the motel room and found the woman deceased.

The victim’s name will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner once an official identification has been made and next of kin have been notified.

Based on the evidence at the scene and the early information gathered in the shooting investigation, the man – Ricky Lynn Brown, 51 (DOB 9/10/62) – was arrested and remains in the Arlington City Jail facing a Murder charge. Bail has not yet been set. Brown's mugshot is included with this message.

Homicide Detectives are continuing to collect information and evidence that could help determine what led to this deadly shooting.
