Former Little League baseball president arrested for theft

The former president of Southeast Arlington Little League was arrested this morning in connection with the theft of more than $20,000 from the baseball league business account. Claudia Yamell Castillo, 34, of Arlington, was arrested at her job today (Thursday, September 19, 2013) without incident. Due to the financial loss, the Southeast Arlington Little League was unable to operate this Fall.

The Arlington Police Department was contacted on September 2, by the Southeast Arlington Little League vice president to file a police report regarding the theft. During the investigation it was determined that over the past year charges unrelated to league activity and unauthorized cash payments were made by the suspect. The financial discrepancies were addressed in August at a board meeting during which Castillo was relieved of her duties and notified that police would be contacted. Castillo remains in the Arlington City Jail facing a charge of Theft with bail set at $25,000. A mugshot photo of the suspect is included with this message.
