The Arlington Police Training Center recently successfully completed its first re-accreditation process for law enforcement training standards. In December 2012, The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) assigned a team of assessors to review the department’s law enforcement training program and ensure its compliance with CALEA standards. The result was a final report in which the assessors provided positive reviews in every area covered during the assessment.
We are privileged to operate our own Police Training Center, where new police recruits are trained by our expert training staff. The Training Center also provides a secure environment for our officers to receive ongoing professional training and regularly invites other law enforcement agencies to participate in training at our facility. The Police Training Center staff is very proud of this accomplishment.
CALEA offers three law enforcement accreditations - public safety agency, public safety training agencies and public safety communications. Our agency is extremely honored to hold current accreditation for each one, demonstrating the importance we place on professionalism. The Arlington community benefits from our commitment to professionalism and the emphasis on following national best practices based upon law enforcement standards. The Police Training Center was first accredited by CALEA in 2010 for a 3-year period, at which point the Arlington Police Department received the CALEA Tri-Arc Award. Only agencies with concurrent CALEA accreditation in all three areas qualify for the Tri-Arc Award.
