The Arlington Police Department is investigating an overnight fatal traffic crash that is believed to have involved an intoxicated driver. Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Pioneer Parkway and Watson Road at about 10 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013. The driver of a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling eastbound on Pioneer Parkway struck a 2005 White Chevrolet Trailblazer that was going north through the intersection on Watson Road. The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer was driven by ambulance to the Medical Center of Arlington, where he died a short time later.
The driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis, later identified as Carlos Cruz, 28 of Grand Prairie, is believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. Cruz was arrested and transported to the Arlington City Jail. He faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Cruz’s mugshot is attached to this message.
The identity of the deceased man, who is believed to be 60-years-old, will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner once next of kin has been notified.
