At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2012, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 400 block of N. Watson Road, just south of Six Flags Drive. Witnesses at the scene described seeing a pickup truck travelling north bound at a high rate of speed on Watson Road. For reasons unknown at this time, the pickup left the roadway and struck a concrete pillar attached to a railway bridge just north of 2600 Galleria Drive. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger died at a local hospital shortly after the crash. There were no other vehicles involved in this collision. Investigators will try to determine why the vehicle left the roadway and determine if speed or other factors may have played a contributing factor in this crash. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify the deceased once next of kin notification has occurred. North bound Watson Road at 2600 Galleria Drive will be closed for a couple of hours while the investigation continues.
This is the 13th and 14th traffic fatalities in Arlington this year.
